The best known leads to the Svartifoss waterfall, but you have to love the crowd &#8230; Below we suggest a more engaging but absolutely superb hike!<\/li>\n<li>Glacier excursions: quite a few guide companies offer excursions lasting a few hours on the surrounding glaciers. It is physically accessible to the greatest number and it will allow you to discover beautiful glacial formations while learning lots of interesting things about glaciers. It is also an opportunity to, unfortunately, see the concrete impact of global warming.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The center of the park is located at the &#8220;Visitor Center&#8221; (64.016343, -16.966968). You will find useful information on hiking there as well as maps of the area. There is also a pleasant campsite, although sometimes a little overcrowded, at the foot of the trail head. Far from the hustle and bustle of Svartifoss (through which we pass all the same), the path will enchant you all along and will offer you an exceptional panorama from the top.<\/p>\n<p>For a distance of 17km and 1100 D +, the hike is physical, in particular the final part which takes place in sometimes bad terrain (slippery and stony), so be careful! It is a hike to avoid with too young children. There are also some slightly &#8220;gaseous&#8221; passages to advise against people prone to vertigo. Apart from that, the trail remains accessible.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A variant avoiding the summit and the difficult portion but still offering magnificent views, is possible &#8211; see below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BE WELL EQUIPPED FOR THIS HIKING<\/strong>. Wear real hiking shoes and not just sneakers and be alert to the weather. Even if the weather is nice, take something to cover yourself. Similarly, do not neglect the amount of water to take because the climb makes you lose a lot and you do not cross a stream.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n\t\t<div We are very lucky today because the weather is fine. So we will have a view from up there!<\/p>\n<p>After this long straight stretch along the glacier, the marked path suddenly turns to the left to go around (by the left) the large massif in front of you.<strong> If you want to reach the summit, find a path that goes straight down the slope and then continues on the right, it is clearly visible normally and there are some marks<\/strong>. If you don&#8217;t want to make the summit, follow the marked path on the left.<\/p>\n<p>The path becomes more difficult now. Don&#8217;t hesitate to take a break now to breathe and have a drink. You are going to chain some very rough climbs in a rock that is falling apart a little. Be careful.<\/p>\n<p>You will arrive after a strong climb at a shoulder marked by a large cairn. A second path joins yours (downhill path). For the summit, set off in the rocky path which climbs steeply in a zigzag. You don&#8217;t have much elevation left! Courage!<\/p>\n<p>A few more meters and you are there! Je n\u2019en finis pas d\u2019\u00eatre \u00e9merveill\u00e9 par cette \u00ab r\u00e9gion \u00bb du monde et toutes les possibilit\u00e9s de treks qu\u2019elle r\u00e9serve. La randonn\u00e9e en autonomie est une activit\u00e9 formidable. On \u00e9volue dans les plus beaux paysages qui soit, on prend le temps de savourer, on r\u00e9fl\u00e9chit, on se perd. L\u2019introspection est forte lorsque l\u2019on s\u2019\u00e9vade dans les grands espaces inhumains, c\u2019est le moment de se d\u00e9couvrir et de d\u00e9couvrir ceux qui vous accompagne, comme le dit un proverbe islandais \u00ab l\u2019aiguille de la boussole ne m\u00e8ne qu\u2019\u00e0 soit m\u00eame \u00bb. C\u2019est aussi l\u2019occasion de laisser derri\u00e8re TV, internet et smartphone et de revenir \u00e0 la base : avancer, avoir chaud, se prot\u00e9ger, manger\u2026 Je souhaitais donc partager cette passion, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ce blog, au travers de mes carnets mais \u00e9galement gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ce que j\u2019ai pu apprendre sur le terrain. Cette passion s\u2019est ensuite d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e d\u2019avantage avec mon premier \u00ab grand \u00bb trek : le Tour des Annapurnas au N\u00e9pal et de multiples randonn\u00e9es dans les Alpes. J\u2019ai \u00e9galement d\u00e9couvert l\u2019alpinisme gr\u00e2ce auquel on explore une autre facette de la montagne encore plus intime gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019engagement qu\u2019il n\u00e9cessite. Ce n\u2019est que r\u00e9cemment que j\u2019ai commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 explorer le (Grand) Nord avec, d\u2019abord, l\u2019Islande puis la Norv\u00e8ge entre le Svalbard et les Lofoten et la Su\u00e8de avec la Kungsleden. Je n\u2019en finis pas d\u2019\u00eatre \u00e9merveill\u00e9 par cette \u00ab r\u00e9gion \u00bb du monde et toutes les possibilit\u00e9s de treks qu\u2019elle r\u00e9serve. La randonn\u00e9e en autonomie est une activit\u00e9 formidable. On \u00e9volue dans les plus beaux paysages qui soit, on prend le temps de savourer, on r\u00e9fl\u00e9chit, on se perd. L\u2019introspection est forte lorsque l\u2019on s\u2019\u00e9vade dans les grands espaces inhumains, c\u2019est le moment de se d\u00e9couvrir et de d\u00e9couvrir ceux qui vous accompagne, comme le dit un proverbe islandais \u00ab l\u2019aiguille de la boussole ne m\u00e8ne qu\u2019\u00e0 soit m\u00eame \u00bb. C\u2019est aussi l\u2019occasion de laisser derri\u00e8re TV, internet et smartphone et de revenir \u00e0 la base : avancer, avoir chaud, se prot\u00e9ger, manger\u2026 Je souhaitais donc partager cette passion, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ce blog, au travers de mes carnets mais \u00e9galement gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ce que j\u2019ai pu apprendre sur le terrain. J\u2019esp\u00e8re que vous trouverez de quoi vous \u00e9vader le temps d\u2019un r\u00e9cit, de quoi vous donner des id\u00e9es pour une prochaine aventure ou les r\u00e9ponses \u00e0 vos questions sur le mat\u00e9riel et la pr\u00e9paration.
